The small, rural borough of Hanover, Pennsylvania was settled in the 1730s. Rich with history, Hanover is located 14 miles east of Gettysburg National Military Park. Hanover is also conveniently located 19 miles southwest of York and 36 miles south of Harrisburg.
Hanover is home to Hanover Foods Corporation, the largest independently-owned food processor in the East. Snyder’s of Hanover pretzel factory is also located here, along with Utz Quality Foods.
Hanover’s beautiful downtown contains a wide variety of architecture, some dating back to the 1700s. The Mason-Dixon line passes through Hanover. The line, created by Charles Mason and Jeremiah Dixon, was created to settle an on-going property dispute between settlers of Pennsylvania and Maryland in the mid-1700s.
