With its scenic river views and lovely houses overlooking the Willamette River, Brooklyn Action Corps is one of Portland’s most pictorial neighborhoods. Situated on one of ten national American Heritage Rivers, the neighborhood is home to many houses with gorgeous views of the water. In 1987, the Willamette Floodplain was established as a Natural Landmark.
Dwelling designs are quite charming and diverse. Ranch-style cottages and multistoried houses with older American architecture sit on sprawling lawns with mature hardwoods and flowering trees. The subdivision is bordered by the Willamette River on the west, Highway 26 on the north, SE McLoughlin Boulevard along the southeastern border and the sector parallel to SE 28th Avenue on the east. The southern region of Brooklyn Action Corps is surrounded by Oaks Bottom Wildlife Refuge.
Besides the river, the Brooklyn Action Corps neighborhood sports great parks, such as Brooklyn School Park situated in the heart of the neighborhood. Brooklyn City Park, located in northern quadrant, has shaded picnic areas and open fields for baseball. Powell City Park situated on the northeastern tip is a large, open park with green fields and marked sports turf.
Though portions of the community are residential, other portions host small businesses in commercial districts.
