Craftsman-style homes and suburban estates are both part of the affluent community of BHT, located in West Linn, Oregon. Homes are either owner-occupied or rented, with apartments and other rentals located outside of the neighborhood. Many homes in the area easily exceed 4,000 square feet of living space.
As part of the prosperous Portland suburb of West Linn, BHT has the suburban feel of the good life. Simply known as Barrington to locals, the nickname BHT represents the integration of three residential neighborhoods: Barrington Heights, Hidden Creek, and Tanner Woods. Schools near the neighborhood are part of the West Linn-Wilsonville School District.
The neighborhood is both pedestrian- and bicycle-friendly, offering shopping areas, restaurants and attractions in either the historic Willamette District of West Linn or nearby Oregon City. Motorists have easy access to Interstate 205. Tri-Met, Portland’s public transportation system, serves the neighborhood. With Portland minutes away by automobile or public transit, residents enjoy easy access to Portland International Airport and the historic Amtrak Union Station.
Sunset Park and Tanner Creek Park are close to BHT. Sunset Park, with its picnic areas, covered shelter, playground and wading pool, is a perfect place for toddlers. The larger Tanner Creek Park has a woodsy feel, with a water feature for summer play and a skate park for teenagers.
Dr. Edward McLean was a Clackamas County doctor who built the McLean House in 1927. The three-story, 17-room home on carefully-landscaped acreage is located on the banks of the Willamette River. The historic McLean House is a popular site for wedding ceremonies and receptions, but the McLean House Park, overlooking the Willamette, is open to the public for strolls and picnics.
