The Maxwell neighborhood of Tulsa, Oklahoma fills one square mile between downtown Tulsa and the international airport. Owen, Bell, and McKinley are Tulsa elementary schools that serve parts of the Maxwell neighborhood. Hamilton and Cleveland are local middle schools and Rogers is the high school for neighborhood children. The Tulsa School District also has many magnet schools, with programs including culinary arts, fine arts, engineering and medicine. The University of Tulsa is less than two miles from the neighborhood.
South of Maxwell the Tulsa Fairgrounds, now also known as Expo Park, hosts the nostalgic State Fair each year. Other events at the Expo include horse shows, flea markets, native American art shows and school graduations.
North of Maxwell is the huge Mohawk Park, with a wildlife interpretive center, a boardwalk across wetlands, and a serene lake. The park has forests to explore, and the wonderful tall-grass prairie. A nature center offers children’s programs that parents will enjoy, as well.
Maxwell is a neighborhood in the heart of town. The community offers a great variety of housing choices, as well as easy access to all the most exciting parts of Tulsa.
