Northwood is a neighborhood just south of Oklahoma Christian University in Edmond, Oklahoma. Since it is near the university, rentals are often available throughout the neighborhood. The university has an enrollment of about 2,000 students with a beautiful 200-acre campus. The landscaped pathways and sidewalks of the campus provide a great place to walk or jog near Northwood. The proximity of the college also means that great lunch and dinner spots are all around this area.
Located between Memorial Road and the Kilpatrick Turnpike, Northwood enjoys quick access to the metropolitan area of Oklahoma City. Memorial Road provides access to the Broadway Extension, which is the main commuter corridor between Edmond and downtown Oklahoma City. In downtown Oklahoma City, residents can enjoy NBA basketball, Broadway musical productions, a great nightlife led by the bars and clubs of the Bricktown district, and many more entertainment options.
The Kilpatrick Turnpike, which can be accessed via the Broadway Extension, is essential for Northwood residents who plan on spending time in far north Oklahoma City. With a PikePass, a small fee is charged automatically as drivers enter the turnpike. This is a fast, traffic-free route across the north side to destinations such as the Memorial Road shopping and office corridor. Memorial Road and Pennsylvania Avenue is the intersection at the center of this area, which includes the large Quail Springs Mall and a wide variety of national chain retailers and restaurants.
There are also nearby opportunities for recreation. For golfers, the Links Golf Club, Silverhorn Golf Club, and River Oaks Golf Club are all only three miles away. Edmond’s Hafer Park is also just a few miles away. This flagship park features an aquatic center, walking trails, and great picnic spots.
