Copper Creek is a well-kept suburban neighborhood located in northwest Oklahoma City, less than a mile from the small town of Edmond. It has access to Oklahoma City services, but the children of the neighborhood attend the Edmond public schools.
The zip code for this neighborhood is 73012. Copper Creek is encompassed on the west by North Pennsylvania Avenue, on the north by Northwest 178th Street and on the east by Iron Lane and Saddlecreek Way. On the south, the boundary of the neighborhood is 172nd Street. Many of the streets in Copper Creek are named after metals, in keeping with the copper theme.
The homes of the Copper Creek subdivision are traditional in style. Most of them have one or two stories, and all have peaked roofs. Most of the homes are brick with many decorative touches. All are set in well-groomed lawns planted with shade trees. The neighborhood also has a small pond, which is connected to the neighborhood by a paved walking path.
The development was begun in the late 1990s, making this neighborhood slightly newer than many on Oklahoma City’s north side. An active neighborhood association was organized soon after the neighborhood’s founding. It maintains an informational Web site, tends the entrance at 178th Street and distributes a newsletter.
Copper Creek is a friendly, family-oriented neighborhood. While it is close enough to most of Oklahoma City for a reasonable commute, it is still far enough out of the city to provide a connection to nature and the peaceful atmosphere of wide-open spaces.
