Broken Arrow, OK Apartments for Rent

Travel 14 miles southeast of Tulsa and you’ll find the city’s largest suburb – Broken Arrow. This large city is home to nearly 99,000 people, making it the fourth-largest city in Oklahoma. Apartments in Broken Arrow are ideal for those who want to commute into Tulsa, but Broken Arrow has a strong, diverse economy and plenty of opportunities close to home.

When Creek Indians were forced out of their territory near Montgomery, Alabama during the 1830s Trail of Tears, they settled in Oklahoma and named the new community after the settlement they left behind – Broken Arrow. In 1902, when the railroad arrived to this part of Oklahoma, the tracks passed about five miles north of the Indian settlement. The town that developed around the railroad was named after the Indian settlement, and today’s city of Broken Arrow was founded.

This part of Northeast Oklahoma is known as “Green Country” due to its rolling, green hills and mild, rainy climate. The Ozark Mountains, which are heavily wooded, dominate the landscape. Because of the rich environment, Broken Arrow became a hub for farming – especially dairy farms and cattle ranches. And while the economy has branched off into a variety of other areas, you can still find amazing farms and plenty of produce. After finding your Broken Arrow apartment, the Rose District Farmers Market may become one of your favorite destinations.

The Rose District is located downtown and is Broken Arrow’s arts and entertainment district. Because early residents chose roses to “dress up” the prairie landscape, the city soon became known as the “City of Roses.” The Rose District was named to honor this history. The Rose District is a pedestrian-friendly area with wide, brick-paved sidewalks and – of course – plenty of planters filled with roses. After moving to your Broken Arrow apartment, you’ll discover some fantastic restaurants and shops in the Rose District, including Claret Café, Victoria’s Tea Room, and Taino’s Caribbean Fusion.
