Youngstown, part of the country’s long-suffering rustbelt, was known as an important industrial hub between the 1920s and 1930s, hosting such companies as Republic Steel and US Steel. Today, the city is looking to other opportunities for economic growth, such as technology.
Downtown Youngstown is seeing a renaissance of sorts, thanks to new high-tech companies moving into the area. Youngstown Business Incubator, or YBI, was recently named the top-ranked incubator in the state of Ohio in terms of sales, payroll and outside investment, and city leaders are envisioning a campus of high-tech companies doing global business in downtown Youngstown in just a few years.
With the influx of new residents, Youngstown apartments are gaining in popularity. The city is very bicycle-friendly with the nearby Great Ohio Lake-to-River Greenway, a “rail-to-trail” path. Several other trails are in the works, including the Western Reserve Greenway, which, when completed will be 41 miles long. With over 100 neighborhoods in Youngstown to choose from, you’ll have no problem finding the perfect new apartment.
