At the western tip of Lake Erie, the Maumee River curves along the vibrant city of Toledo. Founded in 1833, Toledo’s history is evident in its elegant buildings and historic sites. But Toledo is also a modern metropolis, home to many Fortune 500 companies, banks, and manufacturing companies. It is also known for its glass industry, and the Toledo Museum of Art contains a vast display of glass art. This large museum opened in 1901 and contains over 30,000 works of art in its six buildings.
In addition to several theaters and museums, Toledo is home to the Toledo Zoo. This cutting-edge zoo contains several exhibits, including a hippoquarium (an underwater viewing exhibit), an aviary, and an aquarium. Maumee Bay State Park is located on Lake Erie and features a lodge and a golf course.
Toledo offers many choices for apartment renters. From a converted loft in the Warehouse District to a high-rise downtown to an apartment in the historic Old West End, the distinctive neighborhoods add up to an amazing city.
