Dayton Apartments for Rent
Known as the birthplace of aviation, the city of Dayton, Ohio is more than the Wright Brothers’ take-off point. Famous for being the place where Wilbur and Orville Wright perfected the first successful airplane, Dayton continues to be a significant place for aerospace and industrial research, most of which is done at the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. This is also the home of the 17-acre National Museum of the United States Air Force, which features more than 300 airplanes and missiles for the public’s viewing. Flight fanatics also can visit the Dayton Aviation Heritage National Historical Park, which commemorates the Wright Brothers and Paul Laurence Dunbar, an African-American poet from Dayton who wrote during the late 1800s.
Aviation isn’t the only area in which this city soars. HealthGrades named it the third city in the nation for excellence in health care in 2011. For entertainment, visit one of the city’s annual events, like the Dayton Celtic Festival, the month-long Dayton Holiday Festival, or the popular Dayton Vectren Air Show. Five River MetroParks is a system of parks in the Dayton area, many of which also host festivals and concerts, in addition to providing ample opportunity for recreation. Shops, galleries, nightclubs, and pubs can all be found at the Oregon District, the historic district of Dayton. Home of the second oldest ballet company in the nation, Dayton is the place to be for arts and culture. The Benjamin and Marian Schuster Performing Arts Center features shows by the Dayton Ballet Company, Dayton Opera, and Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra. The only minor league baseball team to sell out of an entire season’s tickets before it began, the Dayton Dragons continue to fly with the ardent support of Dayton natives.
