What began in 1805 as a manufacturing hub has become an unabashedly all-American city. The small city of Canton is less than 30 miles from Akron and only about 50 miles from Cleveland, but it definitely has that small-town feel. This city is all about summer festivals, backyard barbeques, and football.

The National Football League began in Canton, Ohio in 1920 as the American Professional Football Association. When it began, the football league consisted of 11 teams. The program has grown to 32 teams and hosts the most-attended sports games in the world. The Pro Football Hall of Fame contains artifacts and exhibits that preserve the history of the sport. Canton also hosts a Pro Football Hall of Fame Festival every summer, complete with a parade, hot-air balloons, races and contests, culminating in the enshrinement of the new Hall of Fame inductees.

Canton apartment renters will enjoy over 800 acres of park land; a beautiful downtown area populated with small, local businesses, art galleries, boutiques, and restaurants; and sites such as the McKinley Presidential Library and Museum and the National First Ladies Historical Site. Golfers will appreciate the area’s 21 golf courses. Nearby Amish villages offer unique shops and restaurants (including handmade furniture).
