Richmond, Virginia is a city ingrained with history. It was here, at Saint John’s Episcopal Church, where colonial leaders met before the Revolutionary War and where Patrick Henry uttered the famous words, “Give me liberty or give me death.” It is the site of the oldest market in the country, the historic 17th Street Market, which has existed since 1737. Richmond’s amazing landmarks and historic neighborhoods are an ideal setting for Virginia Commonwealth University.

Established in 1838, VCU has become a top tier university and a major research university. It is the fastest-growing university in the Commonwealth. The oldest building on campus, the Egyptian Building, was built in 1845 and is a National Historic Landmark.

The VCU Rams have a long and illustrious basketball record. The sports teams compete in NCAA Division I. The Rams recently added football to their sports program and began playing in fall of 2011.
