Probably best known for its sports program, the Texas Longhorns are members of the Big 12 Conference and have won four NCAA Division 1 National Football Championships. If this isn’t enough to “hook” you, the University of Texas Austin is a top-rated research university with the largest enrollment of all Texas universities. Established in 1883, the UT main campus contains 150 buildings in north Austin. The most famous of its buildings, the Main Building, contains a 307-foot tower, complete with a 56-bell carillon. Another landmark is the Littlefield House, an ornate Victorian constructed in 1893 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
