Belmont University is located in Nashville, Tennessee, just southeast of Vanderbilt University. It is the second-largest private university in the state behind neighboring Vanderbilt. Belmont University was established in 1890 and is a private, Christian, liberal arts college. The Belmont Mansion, an elegant antebellum mansion located on campus, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The mansion was home to Adelicia Hayes Acklen Cheatham and was built in 1850. Today, it is open for tours of the 36-room mansion and its Victorian furnishings.
Belmont offers 75 academic majors in six colleges, 20 master’s degree programs, and four doctoral programs. The university also offers one of the few Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB International) accredited Music Business programs in the world, and the only private Masters of Accountancy program in the state. Belmont is considered one of the best business schools in the world.
