Furman University Area Apartments for Rent(hide college information)
As one of South Carolina’s oldest universities, Furman University was established in 1826. It is a private, liberal arts college with an enrollment of about 3,200. A beautiful campus featuring Georgian-style architecture echoes Greenville’s Southern history.
At the heart of the 750-acre campus is a large lake. Near the Bell Tower on the lake, students enjoy Southern Living magazine’s first “green” Showcase Home, the Shi Center. Built in 2008, the center features solar panels and bamboo flooring and is home to the David E. Shi Center for Sustainability.
Other locations that make the Furman University campus one of the most beautiful in the south include an Asian garden and a former Buddhist temple. The campus also features walking trails, including part of the Swamp Rabbit Trail, which extends 11 miles from downtown Greenville to Travelers Rest. The university also has its own semi-private, 18-hold golf course considered one of the best in South Carolina.
The university is located about six miles north of downtown Greenville, just west of Paris Mountain State Park. Travelers Rest is about two miles north and is an ideal location for an apartment near Furman University.
