The largest community college in North Carolina – Central Piedmont Community College – was established in 1963. CPCC has six satellite campuses throughout the Charlotte, North Carolina area. The main college campus is located in Elizabeth – a charming neighborhood known for its shady streets and large trees. One of the more pedestrian-friendly neighborhoods in Charlotte, Elizabeth residents are often seen out strolling along the sidewalks.

CPCC is near Independence Park, Memorial Stadium, Marshall Park, and Thompson Park. CPCC is an urban campus, located on the southeast side of downtown Charlotte.
