Bellarmine University is a private, Catholic, liberal arts university located in Louisville, Kentucky. Established in 1950, the university has grown into a respected institution with an enrollment of roughly 3,400 students. The 135-acre campus is located in the hills of Louisville’s charming and artsy Highlands neighborhood. BU is named for Roberto Bellarmino, a Cardinal who died in 1621. BU offers over 50 majors and several graduate degree programs.
The BU Knights participate in 19 varsity sports as part of NCAA Division II, while the men’s lacrosse team participates in NCAA Division I. Other sports include baseball, basketball, cross country, golf, and swimming. The men’s basketball team holds several titles and won the NCAA Division II National Championship in 2011.
