With the motto, “Powering Silicon Valley,” San Jose State University provides the computer science, business, and engineering graduates this mecca of technology requires. San Jose is the third largest city in the state and is located on San Francisco Bay. SJSU is located downtown on over 150 acres.
Established in 1857, SJSU is a public university. Nicknamed the Spartans, the sports teams compete in NCAA Division I. The Spartan Stadium was built in 1933 and hosts football and soccer games.
SJSU has a very diverse student population with one of the highest rates of foreign student enrollment. Situated in over 50 buildings in an urban area, SJSU is primarily a commuter school. Because San Jose is pedestrian-friendly with easy access to the Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) system, students can easily walk, ride a bicycle, or take the train to campus.
