Surrounded by carved mountain peaks and rugged canyons, the University of Arizona is situated in the beautiful landscape of the Southwest. Established in 1885, UA is a highly-regarded land-grant, sea-grant research university. This selective university is located about a mile from downtown Tucson.
Even though it is an urban campus with access to nightlife, museums, shops, restaurants, and theaters in downtown, students at UA can enjoy the 350 days of sunshine by hiking, biking, caving, rock climbing, and horseback riding – when they aren’t studying on the beautiful 380-acre campus of UA.
Football fans can cheer on the Wildcats, members of the Pac-12. The Wildcats football program began in 1899. They play at the Arizona Stadium, which was built on campus in 1927. Former Wildcats turned NFL players include Super Bowl champions Mike Bell, Chris McAlister, Vance Johnson and Brad Anderson.
