West Street, an established Cary neighborhood, lies in the southwest corner of the downtown area. Older, modest homes line the street. Cute porches front many of the houses. This quiet neighborhood is surrounded by large, mature trees.
West Street is in the 27513 ZIP code. Residents enjoy living extremely near restaurants and services. Just south of the neighborhood, State Route 1616 runs through the town of Cary and is home to many services and restaurants. West Street residents are also just a short drive from the booming city of Raleigh, about 10 miles east of the neighborhood. The Triangle Transit provides them with public transportation and plenty of bus stops around the West Street area.
The town of Cary boasts an extensive park and greenway system that features beautiful city parks and miles of trails winding through lush green areas. Lexie Lane Park, Godbold Park, and the Cary Dog Park are all situated less than a mile from the West Street neighborhood. Lexie Lane Park is a small neighborhood park with a playground, a ball field, and a basketball court. The larger Godbold Park boasts lighted tennis and basketball courts, a playground, and a walking trail complete with exercise stations. Perhaps the most exciting facility at Godbold is the attached Sk8-Cary Skate Park. This sprawling outdoor attraction is the town’s only skate park. It is a large facility that offers classes, a pro shop, concessions, and tournaments.
The largest local shopping site, the Cary Towne Center, is just two miles southeast of the West Street neighborhood. Residents who are shopping there enjoy a mall directory featuring more than 150 shops and restaurants. Just a mile and a half from the community are two movie theaters, Park Place 16 Cinema’s and Galaxy Cinema, which is in the Cary Towne Center Mall.
