At 1400 West Millbrook Road is Shelley Lake Park. This city park has 2.5 miles of walking trails and is part of Raleigh’s Capital Greenway Trail System. The Greenway Trails include 63 miles of interconnected paths throughout the city. Shelley Lake Park also offers fishing, canoeing, and picnicking. The Sertoma Art Center is located there, as well.

Other points of interest nearby include North Carolina State University, Meredith College, St. Augustine’s College, the Raleigh Country Club, and the state-of-the-art medical facilities of WakeMed hospital.

It’s a fifteen-minute drive from the Villas at Millbrook to the downtown block of East Martin, home to City Market. A Spanish Mission style building, it was designed by James Matthew Kennedy and today is a hub for some of the city’s finest specialty shopping.
