The neighborhood at South Greensboro Street is near a bike trail off of Rand Road that leads to a designated bike route on Wesley Street and then on to Libba Cotton Bikeway. Directly on the bikeway is The Arts Center of Carrboro where residents can take classes in literary, visual, and performing arts. Hank Anderson Community Park was originally named Carrboro Community Park but was renamed to honor Hand Anderson, the director of Chapel Hill Parks and Recreation Department from 1969 to 1997. The park has a small pond where visitors can fish and feed ducks. There is a fenced in off-leash dog park, playground, and horseshoe pits. The park houses baseball fields, basketball, tennis and volleyball courts, and picnic shelters. Hank Anderson Community parks offers residents a nearby spot to enjoy family outings.
The nearby University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill makes for an easy commute for students to attend classes. The bike lane on West Cameron Avenue leads directly to the university.
Carr Mill Mall located on North Greensboro Street is within walking distance and visitors will find a wide variety of shops and boutiques. The mall opened in 1977 and the site was once owned by the Julian Carr family who operated Carrboro Woolen Mills. The rich history behind Carr Mills Mall makes it a favorite destination to visit.
The Orange County city of Carrboro is home to the Carrboro Farmers Market located at 301 West Main Street. The market is open Saturdays year round and Wednesdays residents can shop the locally grown fruit and produce beginning April 13th.
