Built around a single street in south Apex, Perry Village is a cozy neighborhood of comfortable ranch and two-story houses. The neighborhood is in zip code 27502, and all of the houses are on Maple Shade Lane off James Street. Maple Shade Lane ends in a cul-de-sac, which eliminates through traffic and provides quiet streets. Many yards are filled with mature trees, giving the houses a shady, serene atmosphere.
Perry Village is close to U.S. 1, Highway 64, and Highway 55, which connect to major business centers, shopping destinations, and parks throughout the area. The Research Triangle Park, home to headquarters of major corporations such as IBM and more than 11,000 employees, is about 30 minutes north. Corporations housed in Cary and Apex also are a short drive away.
Downtown Apex is full of mom-and-pop restaurants and specialty shops, and thousands of people flock to its historic streets in the spring for Peak Fest, a lively street fair. The town was built around a stop on the Chatham Rail Line, and many of the historic buildings in downtown Apex date to the 1800s. The original rail depot, constructed in the mid-1800s, has been designated a Wake County landmark.
Apex is part of an extensive regional parks and greenway system, and Jordan Lake, one of the area’s most popular parks, is just to the west of Perry Village. The 14,000-acre lake is filled with boats and water-skiers on nice days. Many enjoy picnicking, hiking, and camping along the lake’s shore and in the adjacent recreation area. Residents looking for open space closer to home can walk to Jones Park, a small neighborhood park about 1.5 miles from Perry Village.
