To the north of Crossroads Plaza, just on the other side of I-440, is the Polar Ice House-Cary. This indoor skating complex is used for both hockey and figure skating. It offers camps, a pro shop, and public skating sessions, among other events and activities.

For outdoor recreation, Old Farm residents head a few miles southeast to Lake Johnson Nature Park. If you prefer to get your exercise out among nature, this is the park for you. Challenging trails offer scenic views of the 150-acre Lake Johnson and are popular for walking, jogging, biking, and dog walking. The lake offers paddle-boat rentals, and the park shelter has rocking chairs for relaxing and taking in your natural surroundings.
