Wake County’s city of Raleigh is located in the east central area of North Carolina. The state’s capital, Raleigh is the birthplace of President Andrew Johnson, singer Clay Aiken, and pro football player Antwan Harris.

In Raleigh’s 27606 zip code area is the small residential neighborhood of Nottingham Woods. Nottingham Woods can be found about two miles east of Downtown Raleigh, south of Poole Road, and west of Sunnybrook Road. It is primarily residential structures lining Rawls Drive.

Nottingham Woods is within walking distance of the city’s Worthdale Park off Cooper Road. In addition to its playground, basketball court, ball fields, and six tennis courts, Worthdale Park has a community center with gymnasium and three multi-purpose rooms. Nottingham Woods is also less than a mile from the Raleigh Country Club.

Due north, less than two miles of Nottingham Woods is the state-of-the-art medical facilities of WakeMed Hospital Raleigh Campus. The hospital is the county’s only certified Primary Stroke Center.

Downtown Raleigh is about ten minutes west of Nottingham Woods. Nestled between Dawson and McDowell Streets in the Fayetteville District is the Raleigh Amphitheatre. Owned by the city and built in 2010, this entertainment venue seats 5,500.

To the east of the Fayetteville District is Moore Square. Moore Square is home to the Historic City Market, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. City Market offers a multitude of dining options as well as some of Raleigh’s unique boutiques and vendors. One block north of City Market and Moore Square city park is the Marbles Kids Museum. Marbles is an interactive learning museum just for kids with multiple galleries and exhibits.

In north Downtown Raleigh is the Capital District, home to the State Capitol Building, the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences and the North Carolina Museum of History.
