Myrick Downs, a Knightdale, North Carolina neighborhood lies east of Interstate 540/Northern Wake Expressway. Knightdale, only fifteen minutes from Raleigh, is home to about 12,000 residents, several scenic neighborhoods, and an expansive parks and recreation program.
The neighborhood of Myrick Downs is in the 27545 zip code of Wake County, located east of Bethlehem Road and adjacent to Myrick Pond. A neighborhood sidewalk runs along the length of Heathwick Drive from Railroad Street to the end cul-de-sac, just south of the pond.
Myrick Downs is close to churches, schools, and downtown Knightdale. The Midway Drive Plaza as well as several retail and dining choices are nearby, located along Knightdale Boulevard. The Knightdale Elementary School is less than a mile from the neighborhood and serves as the site for the East Wake Soccer Association. It is a non-profit soccer club for children ages four to fourteen with fields throughout Wake County.
On Main Street is the Harper Park. A city park, it features multiple picnic areas with grills, a large playground, and a community center for teens, known as “The Place.” The center offers a safe recreational area for teens to hang out, play games, and receive homework help.
Five minutes north of Myrick Downs, residents can visit the East Regional Library. Located on Steeple Square Court, the library is across from the Lockhart Elementary School. Through the library’s rear parking lot, there is access the Knightdale Environmental Education Park. A certified “Backyard Habitat,” the park has observation platforms and a half-mile walking trail.
The Knightdale Recreation Center, less than three miles from Myrick Downs, offers classes for all ages including programs for karate, cheerleading, and crafts. It is part of Community Park, an area boasting a large playground, four ball fields, and two soccer fields.
