Crabtree Valley Mall is a short drive away, but many residents patronize Falls Pointe Shopping Center, which is within walking distance of Muirfield.

Golfers enjoy the neatly manicured courses at several nearby country clubs, including North Ridge Country Club and Wildwood Country Club. William B. Umstead State Park, a huge oasis in this urban area, is popular for its miles of hiking and cycling trails.
