Willow Haven Lake is also nearby. Just east of the community is Alley Young Park. The 15-acre park is quite scenic, featuring several large rocks to climb on, and the park is sheltered by large trees. This park offers a playground, a ball field, basketball courts, and picnic tables. The Wake Forest Recreation Area is 561 acres and features open space, natural areas, and trails. Also available are five baseball and softball fields, tennis courts, soccer fields, a pool, picnic areas, and a dog park. Also in the recreation area is The Wake Forest Community House and the Flahetry Park Community Center. The six miles of greenway trails weave through the park, and the trails are mostly paved and of different lengths, making them usable for everyone.

Wake Forest sits on the edge of the historic Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. The public schools are part of the Wake County School District.
