James Street Station is a neighborhood situated just one mile southwest of the heart of downtown Apex, North Carolina, less than 25 minutes from downtown Raleigh. The quaint, affluent town of Cary is also just a short drive away. This community is bounded by South Salem Street and the railway on the north and James Street Exd. on the east. Currently, this neighborhood is almost entirely undeveloped wooded land, but at least one single-family home can be found here. Part of Wake County, this community is in the 27502 zip code area.
One of the most significant features of the James Street Station neighborhood is its proximity to shopping and dining options. At least three shopping centers exist within a few miles north of this community, including Beaver Creek Commons, Beaver Creek Crossing, and a small retail center with a supermarket, pharmacy, bank, and several eateries. Several additional shopping centers are situated just a short drive to the northeast, including the popular Cary Towne Center.
For outdoor recreation, residents of James Street Station are within five miles of the Hemlock Bluffs State Natural Area, Regency Park, and Fred G. Bond Metro Park. The latter is a popular city park with a large lake for fishing and boating. The parkland is traversed by over four miles of scenic trails, frequented by dog walkers, joggers, and bikers alike. Other amenities offered here include multiple athletic fields, picnic areas, playgrounds, a challenge ropes course, and an outdoor amphitheater.
For entertainment, James Street Station residents may head to the Koka Booth Amphitheatre at nearby Regency Park. This large outdoor entertainment venue is evidence of a multi-million dollar city project. Seating 7,000, this venue is surrounded by mature trees and overlooks Symphony Lake. Area residents come here to watch concerts, theater productions, movies, and even NC Symphony performances.
