The community of Hunters Bluff is located immediately to the west, and the communities of Hunters Ridge, Hunters Glen North and Hunters Glen South are also in the area. One of the most prominent attractions near this community is Lake Wheeler, a 650-acre lake situated immediately to the east of this subdivision. Residents come here to fish, sail, canoe, kayak and row. Lake Wheeler Park, a 150-acre expanse of parkland, can be found on the northeastern shores of the lake. This park offers trails and sand volleyball and is a popular destination for family picnics.
For shopping, dining, and entertainment, residents of Hunters Bluff Lakeside head several miles northwest into nearby Cary, an affluent western suburb of Raleigh. Among the popular retail centers here are the Cary Towne Center and Crossroads Plaza. This area also hosts a trifecta of natural areas and city parks, including Fred G. Bond Metro Park, Lake Johnson Nature Park, and the Hemlock Bluffs State Natural Area.
