Flaherty Farms is a nice sized neighborhood that is located inside the city limits off of North White Street and Flaherty Avenue in historic downtown Wake Forest. It is in the 27587 zip code. Residents are just minutes away from restaurants, great shopping, and all the attractions of downtown Wake Forest.
The neighborhood is made up of single story, single-family homes that were built by Cambridge Homes. All of the houses have exteriors of vinyl siding in different colors. There is a Homeowners Association, but residents do not have to pay dues. Flaherty Farms is considered a very walkable community.
Flaherty Farms is conveniently located to nearly everything. There are two neighborhood parks that are close by: the J.B. Flaherty Park, the closest, and the Ailey Young Park, a few blocks to the south. Both parks are open daily from dawn to dusk. The J.B. Flaherty Park sits on 100 acres and is home to three baseball fields, four tennis courts, picnic tables, two ponds, and a community center. Within the community center there is a game room, a high school gymnasium with basketball and volleyball courts, an arts and crafts room, and a meeting room with a small kitchen. The Ailey Young Park is smaller and offers baseball and soccer fields, picnic tables, and a playground for the children.
Fishermen will be delighted to know that the Calvin Ray Pond is only a short distance to the north. No matter which method of fishing they use, the chance of catching panfish, steelhead trout, or sockeye salmon is pretty good. It´s a great place to fish or relax in the great outdoors.
