Fairwoods is a residential neighborhood of Morrisville, located in Raleigh, North Carolina.
The neighborhood was named for Jeremiah Morris in 1852, when he donated land to establish a railroad stop for the North Carolina Railroad. Morrisville became one of the oldest railroad communities in the state and grew as a town when the railroad brought tobacco and timber to Chapel Hill and Raleigh.
The popularity of North Carolina as one of the most popular states in the nation for retirement, is responsible for the modern-day growth of neighborhoods like Fairwoods. The neighborhood also attracts families because of its quiet, small-town appeal with local private and public schools in the Morrisville School District and the Wake County School District. Fairwoods is close to the vibrant cities of the Raleigh-Chapel Hill-Durham area, also known as the Research Triangle, for attractions and tourist destinations.
Morrisville has a moderate subtropical climate, where summers are hot and winters are mild. Although North Carolina is known to produce crops like tobacco and corn, other crops that do well in this climate include corn, potatoes, and wheat. The neighborhood is close to the Morrisville Farmers Market for fresh organic produce, baked goods, and plants.
