Cross Gate is accessed by either White Chapel Way or Sharpstone Lane. All interior roads in Cross Gate connect in a circular fashion, so the exit points are the same as the entries.

Homes here are large and spacious, and are designed with transitional architecture. A large number of these homes were built in the mid 1990s. Real estate here ranges from about $500,000 to over one million dollars. Some houses sit along the banks of Poole Lake, a natural lake that lies within the boundaries of Cross Gate. A spa franchise also serves the residents of Cross Gate.

The Northern Wake Expressway brings this neighborhood to within minutes of the Northridge Country Club in one direction, and the Wildwood Country Club in the other. The Raleigh-Durham International Airport is about a 20 minute drive, while downtown Raleigh is about 30 minutes.
