The area surrounding Cary Heights boasts many beautiful parks and greenways. The nearby Black Creek Greenway Park is a favorite among hikers and bikers with over 5 miles of paved trails. Although not a city park, the William B. Umstead State Park is arguably the most extensive multi-purpose facility in Cary. The park is nearby, just 5 miles north of Cary Heights. Here, visitors enjoy fishing in one of the three man-made lakes, canoeing, camping, hiking, biking and horseback riding. Over 30 miles of trails extend from different points in the park.
One of the city’s most popular community centers, the Herb Young Community Center, is only 1/2 mile from Cary Heights. Families and children can get involved in one of the center’s many sports programs and fitness classes. The Cary Teen Council is also located here.
Residents of Cary Heights enjoy a short commute into Downtown Raleigh. The drive east is approximately 20 minutes to the heart of Raleigh’s business and shopping districts. The Raleigh Durham International Airport is also nearby, positioned 6 miles north of Cary Heights.
