Boulder Creek is a neighborhood located in Raleigh. It is part of Wake County. The neighborhood is primarily a residential area with single-family homes that were built between 1994 and 1998. It is an oddly shaped neighborhood bordered on the west by Victory Church Road. The northern border lies just below Paddock Drive and Bartwood Drive. The eastern boundary is just west of Boulder Lake.
There are several parks in the area, among them Lake Lyn Park and Leesville Community Park. Located just southwest of the Boulder Creek neighborhood is the William B. Umstead State Park. The park is more than 5,400 acres in size. At one time bison, elk, bobcats, and wolves were native to the park. Native Americans began to move into the area and quickly established a trade route. In 1934, federal and state agencies purchased 5,000 acres to develop a recreation area. The land had historically been used for timberland and mills. Remnants of these still are scattered throughout the park. The park now offers, hiking, biking, educational programs, boat rentals, camping, and picnic areas. Falls Lake State Recreation Area is also nearby and offers camping sites, trails, mountain biking, kayaking, and canoeing. Some Boulder Creek residents enjoy the Wildwood Country Club, also close to home.
The Boulder Creek community is conveniently located to many shopping, dining, and entertainment options. Also nearby is the Raleigh Durham International Airport, making an easy commute for local travelers.
