Concord, NC Apartments for Rent

Concord, North Carolina is probably most famous as the home of Lowes Motor Speedway, which hosts two NASCAR races a year as well as a variety of smaller racing events. Concord’s reputation as a racing capital is furthered by the state-of-the-art race facility, zMAX Dragway. If you’re a race fan, Concord apartments will put you where the action is!

But there’s much more to Concord that racing. It is Cabarrus County’s largest city and the 12th largest in the state. It is the county seat, and it has a population of nearly 84,000. It is considered part of the Charlotte metro area.

Concord dates back to the late 1700s. German and Scots-Irish settlers couldn’t agree on where to place the county seat of the nearly-formed county. They finally found a spot they could all agree on, and that 26-acre site became the city of Concord in 1796. The name “concord” means “harmony” – recognition of a compromise finally being reached between the settlers.

The city’s history can be explored in a variety of historic locations, including the Old Courthouse Theater, built in 1924. This is one of the city’s main cultural centers. The Cabarrus County Courthouse, built in 1876, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It replaced the original courthouse that was destroyed by a fire in 1875.  North Union Street Historic District is also a great place to visit after moving to your Concord apartment. This district is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and contains 150 buildings built around 1870.

Concord is home to Concord Mills Mall — one of the top tourist spots in the state. It contains several shops, dining options, and movie theaters. The Carolina Mall is another great shopping destination in Concord. If you prefer museums, Concord is home to the Backing Up Classics Auto Museum. For those who prefer the outdoors, Concord has several parks, a Farmer’s Market, and hiking trails.

Once you rent an apartment in Concord, you’ll be able to attend a variety of festivals and events hosted in the city. The Carolina Renaissance Festival is held in October. This event is more than 20 years old and attracts nearly 200,000 visitors to the area. It is one of the nation’s largest Renaissance festivals.

If you’re looking for a quiet, suburban community with low taxes and excellent schools, an apartment in Concord is a great choice.
