It is located just six miles from Chem-Way Corporation, eight miles from Charlotte-Douglas International Airport, and just a short drive from Gaston Community College and Belmont Abbey College. Historic sites in Mount Holly include St. Joseph’s Church, built in 1843, and the Dellinger-Nantz House, built in 1899. The Carolina Central Railway began service in Mount Holly in 1860 and is still running today.

Tuckasegee Park is a beautiful destination, recently upgraded with several new features. Nearby Mountain Island Lake is great for boating and fishing, and the Latta Plantation Nature Preserve, a 1,351-acre preserve with 16 miles of hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding trails, is located seven miles from Mount Holly. The Latta Plantation is a former cotton plantation, dating to around 1800. Today it is a living history farm that offers guided tours of the plantation home.
