The Overmountain Victory Trail takes visitors on the same route as Revolutionary War soldiers, while Western Piedmont Community College, located in Morganton, is home to the Senator Sam J. Ervin, Jr., Library and Museum. The musem includes political cartons, books, photos, and other memorabilia from the Watergate era.
