The Ridgemere neighborhood consists of more than 60 single family homes that vary in price from the upper $300s to more than $750,000. Located along Ridgemere Lane, this planned community has a single entrance and a single exit, and most of the residences are located along a series of semi-secluded lakes. The Homeowner’s Association frequently arranges a number of events, and plans several amenities for the community, including a recently built swimming pool.
In addition to the planned outdoor activities, residents of the Ridgemere community also have easy access to nearby Horizons Park, with nearly 500 acres of wooded hills and carefully preserved natural beauty. The park was established in the late 1970s, and features covered picnic pavilions, a sand volleyball court, a pair of walking/hiking trails and a system of bike trails designed for both novice riders and those with significant experience. There is a playground, a horseshoe pit and a softball field. Horizon Park is also the site of the Happy Hounds Dog park. This park is more than two acres of fenced in area where large and small dogs can run and play separately.
A number of unique boutiques are located within a few miles of the neighborhoods, including Pure Romance, a shop that specializes in romantic novelties, gifts and specialty products. Other popular shops include Ivy Arch, an upscale boutique that specializes in jewelry, accessories, and baby shower gifts, and Monkee’s, where ladies can pick out the designer shoes of their dreams.
Art hobbyists will enjoy a visit to the Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art, an affiliate of North Carolina’s Museum of Art, which hopes to create new ideas, expand cultural awareness and open the community to evaluate their lives through the various perspectives of artwork.
