Nottingham is a subdivision located north of Jamestown, an incorporated city and western suburb of Greensboro. The zip code is 27282. Built on low rolling hills, Nottingham’s homes were built in the late 1990s and early 2000s and feature landscaped lawns with trees. There are no sidewalks and not much shade, but it is a clean and fairly level place to walk and ride bikes.
The neighborhood is situated near the intersection of several major thoroughfares, including Eastchester Drive/Route 68, Skeet Club Road, Wendover Avenue West and Penny Road. It’s a short drive north on Wendover to I-40 and I-73. Piedmont Triad International Airport is north of Nottingham and accessible from both interstates. Penny Road leads south to Main Street/US 29 Alt., which is the business district of Jamestown.
Also on Main Street is the Mendenhall Plantation, an 1811 Quaker homeplace that includes a restored medical school and an old wagon used in the Underground Railroad efforts.
The Jamestown Park Golf Course at 7041 East Fork Road is just south of Nottingham. In addition to golf, amenities include picnic shelters, baseball and soccer fields, basketball, tennis and sand volleyball courts and a five-mile walking trail.
Just a few minutes away in a southwesterly direction is Oak Hollow Lake, a municipal reservoir for the city of High Point.
