The Hampton Sted neighborhood is in Winston-Salem, about 30 miles west of Greensboro. The community is in the southwestern part of the city, about seven miles from the downtown area. It is situated immediately east of Griffith Road and south of Manchester Avenue. The neighborhood consists of Luzelle Drive, Scott Hollow Drive, Hampton Road, Kensington Place, and Oxford Street. Hampton Sted is part of Forsyth County and is in the 27103 ZIP code.
The community is mostly residential. Most of the single-family homes are situated on large, tree-shaded lots. The southern and eastern portions of the neighborhood remain largely untouched wooded areas. The far northern portion of Hampton Sted consists of town homes.
Many amenities are within minutes of the neighborhood. Immediately to the east is the Heather Hills Golf Course, an 18-hole public course built in 1973. This executive-length course is quite popular and is considered challenging for a variety of skill levels.
Roughly one mile north of the Hampton Sted community, along I-40, is a popular retail area dominated by the Hanes Mall Shopping Center. This large indoor shopping complex is a popular destination for area families. Not only does it offer hundreds of stores and dining options, but it also hosts a movie theater and a carousel. Several additional retail centers are within a few miles east of the mall, also along the Interstate.
Immediately north of the Hanes Mall is the Forsyth Medical Center, a local health care facility within minutes of the Hampton Sted neighborhood.
Other attractions within a few miles of this community include Forsyth Technical Community College and Washington Park. For residents who want more to see and do, the downtown area is roughly a 12-minute drive from the neighborhood.
