The Winston-Salem neighborhood of Easton is on the south side of this North Carolina city. It is nestled south of Interstate 40 and north of Teague Road. Its eastern boundary is Thomasville Road and its western boundary is NC-2743. It is in the 27107 zip code of Forsyth County.
The neighborhood is primarily residential, but has easy access to major routes and businesses. It is within five miles of three Winston-Salem colleges: Forsyth Technical Community College, the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, and Winston-Salem State University. Wake Forest State University is a bit farther, about 14 miles northwest.
For outdoor activities, Easton residents can take advantage of several city parks. Nearby are Forest Park, Washington Park, Central Park, Parkland Park, and Sprague Street Park. Sprague has a children’s playground, public swimming pool, and a recreational facility. The Sprague Street Community Center offers indoor soccer, basketball, and volleyball in its gymnasium. Other activities and classes are available for all ages.
Easton is surrounded by several golf courses. Pine Tree Golf Club, 10 miles away in neighboring Kernersville, has an 18-hole public course with challenging greens for all skill levels. Wilshire Golf Club is five miles southwest of Easton. Designed by George Veach, the 18-hole public course has several challenging hills and scenic fairways.
About 11 miles northeast of the neighborhood is one of the area’s most unique attractions. Korner’s Folly is a whimsical house built in the 1880s by artist Jule Gilmer Korner. Korner created his house to be unlike any other, with seven levels, 22 rooms, and 20 fireplaces. It has been billed as the “Strangest House in the World.”
