Located off of Swaim Road and mere minutes from Interstate 40, Crosswinds is a small community in Winston-Salem, N.C. The primary road is Crosswinds Drive, which is lined with lovely two-story condos and townhouses. The lots are small and manageable, with trees and shrubbery to provide a neighborhood feel. Parking is in front of the buildings, and the area is walkable and dog friendly. Many of the buildings have back porches, allowing residents to enjoy their view and get some fresh air.
This area is convenient to Hanes Mall Shopping Center, just three miles from Crosswinds. This mall has many popular retailers such as Macy’s, Old Navy, Banana Republic, Williams-Sonoma, and JCPenney. Numerous chain restaurants are near the mall, including Outback Steakhouse and Chili’s. A hugely popular restaurant near Crosswinds, but in a different location from the mall, is Olde Orchard Diner, which is located on Old Salisbury Road. This place is known for great diner food, such as a Philly steak sandwich.
Nearby schools include both public and private options such as Griffith Elementary School, Middle School Academy, Jefferson Day School, and Griffith High School. For those who enjoy golfing, the Heather Hills Golf Club is not even a mile from Crosswinds.
Crosswinds is about 10 miles south of Wake Forest University. It’s about nine miles from the many museums and galleries for which Winston-Salem is so well known, including SECCA, the Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art. For those who enjoy the arts or going downtown for shopping or dining, this distance is not too far to make the trip.
Crosswinds offers a suburban experience outside of Winston-Salem. It is a comfortable neighborhood close to many things that its residents can enjoy.
