Canton Forest is south of Winston-Salem. The neighborhood is bounded by Interstate 40 to the north, Johnstown Road on the east, Netterillo Drive on the south, and Beaverton Trail on the west.
Homes in the area of Canton Forest have large yards and there is a great amount of grass and trees throughout the area. Even with the proximity to Interstate 40, the area seems quiet and country-like thanks to a design that keep most traffic off the residential streets. The neighborhood has preserved groves of trees throughout that benefit birds and wildlife. The end result is a great neighborhood for kids, family strolls or just casual bird watching.
Within walking distance of Canton Forest is Little Creek Neighborhood Community Center and park. The facility has tennis courts, a baseball diamond, turf fields, and an outdoor basketball court. The community center has organized youth sports and classes for adults and kids.
It’s not far from Canton Forest to Tanglewood Park. The park is operated by the county and has an impressive array of facilities and attractions to delight almost any visitor. The Manor House was once the residence of tobacco magnate William Reynolds, which is now restored and in operation as a bed and breakfast. Camping facilities are located throughout the park. The activities include a bridle trail, fishing lake, hiking area, aquatic center, mountain bike trails, and much more.
North Carolina takes pride in offering some of the most impressive golf venues in the country, and they are just a short drive from Canton Forest. Tanglewood Golf Club is a beautiful and challenging municipal course just minutes from Canton Forest. Right next door is Oak Valley Golf Course, a stunning public course designed by Arnold Palmer.
