Winston Salem (alternately punctuated Winston-Salem) is a city roughly 30 miles west of Greensboro, North Carolina. Among the many communities in Winston Salem is Brookridge, a retirement community on the city’s north side. This active community provides residents with easy access to the High Point area, greater Winston Salem and even nearby Greensboro. Life at Brookridge is anything but boring, with a variety of amenities and activities available. There are trails for taking a leisurely stroll, an on-site library and post office, a scenic terrace for relaxing with friends and a dining room for meals.
Retirement doesn’t mean that one has to stop enjoying the conveniences of city living and the area surrounding Brookridge offers a long list of attractions. For local shopping, there are at least four retail centers within a few minutes of the community, including the Pine Ridge, University Plaza, Northchase and Reynolds Manor Shopping Centers.
For recreation, residents of Brookridge are situated roughly equidistant from Bethabara Park (to the northwest) and Polo Park and Recreation Center (to the southwest). Golf is a popular activity among many retired folks, and the Minorcas Creek Golf Course is situated within a short drive northwest of Brookridge as well. For those who prefer a more exclusive golfing experience, the Forsyth County Club is located a few miles southwest of the community.
With a few miles south of Brookridge are several cultural attractions, including the Reynolda House Museum of American Art and The Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art.
