Located on the west side of Burlington and 15 miles east of Greensboro, Gibsonville is a small, charming town with plenty to offer. In addition to being near two large metro areas, Gibsonville has a beautiful downtown area lined with shops and restaurants.

Known as the “City of Roses,” Gibsonville is located in a beautiful area. The town contains two major parks. Northeast Park features trails, an aquatic center, and Bass Pond and Reedy Fork Creek. The pond and creek are ideal for fishing, canoeing, and kayaking. The park also features disc golf and a serenity garden. Southwest Park is a 513-acre park featuring a dog park, hiking trails, playgrounds, and picnic areas. Randleman Regional Reservoir is ideal for fishing and boating, while the Audubon Overlook is the perfect spot for bird watching.

Gibsonville was named for Joseph Gibson. Joseph Gibson was a settler from Edinborough, Scotland who moved to Charleston in 1765 with his parents at the age of 15. He moved to the area that became Gibsonville around 1775 and opened a general store. He died in 1823 and the town was named for him when it incorporated in 1871.
