The Northlight neighborhood of Concord, North Carolina, is located around Dale Earnhardt Boulevard and Copperfield Boulevard NE. A suburb of Charlotte, Concord was a 2004 All-American City winner and is the home of Lowe’s Motor Speedway. Some residents include parts of adjacent Kannapolis in the Northlight neighborhood.
Close to I-85, the Northlight neighborhood is convenient to Carolinas Medical Center Northeast and the Charlotte Douglas International Airport. Neighborhood schools include the School for Environmental Studies Magnet School and Covenant Classical School. The School for Environmental Studies enrolls less than 50 students a year in their prestigious, nature-centered seventh and eighth grade program. Covenant Classical is a K-12 school that enrolls approximately 250 students a year. Parent reviews give Covenant Classical a 4½ star rating. Others schools in the area are Beverly Hills Elementary and Winecoff Elementary.
There are several recreational facilities in the Northlight neighborhood area. Lake Concord and Lake Fisher are man-made lakes created by the damming of Cold Water Creek. These reservoirs provide drinking water for the area and are favorite fishing and boating facilities.
North Cabarrus Park is situated near Northlight on 90 acres of wooded parkland. The park boasts tennis, volleyball and basketball courts and a 9-hole disc golf course. There are two playgrounds with horseshoe pits and a boardwalk around the natural water features. Park visitors can also enjoy the many hiking and biking trails that the park provides. The park is noted for its relaxing atmosphere and its freestanding porch swings that are scattered around the picnic areas.
The Northlight neighborhood boasts many great eating establishments. Carino’s Italian Grill features Panini, steaks, seafood, and pasta dishes. They also offer great tiramisu and cannoli desserts. Another favorite is the Bob Evans Restaurant, which features family size meals, a senior menu and soup and sandwich combos.
