The Midway East neighborhood of Kannapolis is a rural area sandwiched between South Main Street and Cannon Boulevard, near Charlotte. Real estate in the neighborhood is affordable for couples, young families and retirees. Due to the low population density, good schools and low taxes, experts predict future population growth for the Kannapolis neighborhoods. There are few renters in the neighborhood. Midway East is located along the Dale Trail, a tourist-driving destination honoring the lives of NASCAR legends Ralph and Dale Earnhardt. The neighborhood is close to the Midway/Downtown area where teenager Dale Earnhardt won his first trophy as a slot car driver. Later, as one of NASCAR’s most prominent slot car drivers, Earnhardt died in 2001 while racing his internationally famous #3 car in the Daytona 500. His son Dale Earnhardt Jr., another Kannapolis native, continues to compete in NASCAR races.
The neighborhood is close to schools, churches and parks for family-friendly social events and activities.
Outdoor enthusiasts will appreciate a round of golf at the Club at Irish Creek. Once known as the Kannapolis Country Club, the golf course was established in 1953. Golf architect Monroe Maulden and PGA professional golfer and golf course designer Davis Milton Love III designed the 18-hole golf course.
Cabarrus County is known for its easy, rural feel and its many lake. Midway East is a lake near Fisher Dam and Lake Fisher. The lake is a favorite for anglers fishing for bass. Other family-friendly activities at the lake include boating and camping. Other fishing lakes close to the neighborhood include Earnhardt Lake, Emerson Lake and Harris Lake.
