Dupont State Forest was used for filming scenes in the movie The Hunger Games. Locations included Bridal Veil Falls and Triple Falls, two stunning waterfalls located within the forest. Gorges State Park and Nantahala National Forest provide even more outdoor adventure. Brevard, known as the “Land of Waterfalls,” is also home to Sliding Rock, Looking Glass Falls, and Connestee Falls. Sliding Rock is exactly that – visitors can slide down the waterfall into the pool of water below. It has a gentle slope around 60 feet long with a deep pool at the bottom.
Brevard College is a four-year liberal arts school with a well-known music program. The Brevard Music Center is a summer program that enrolls approximately 400 students a year. The students, age 14 and older, participate in private lessons, play in ensembles, and participate in concerts that are open to the public.
