Melanie Acres Apartments for Rent(hide neighborhood information)
A one block length of Robbins Drive is the only road in the tiny, tree-filled neighborhood of Melanie Acres. The trees are actually so thick they give Melanie Acres a rural feel, even though the neighborhood is only a half mile from the Knightdale Bypass, leading to Interstate 440 and downtown Raleigh just four miles west. The single-family homes, most of them built in the mid 1990s are a mixture of owner-occupied and rental properties.
Learning Services of North Carolina, a rehabilitation center for those suffering from brain injuries, is located on Robbins Drive on the western end of Melanie Acres. Anderson Point Park, along the Knightdale Bypass is just over a mile south and offers ball fields, open grassland, and hiking trails. Crabtree Creek runs through the park with a picnic area surrounded by an old-growth forest.
Schools in the area include Hodge Road Elementary on Mingo Bluff Boulevard to the east, River Oaks Middle School on New Bern Avenue to the northwest, and Enloe High School on Clarendon Crescent, due west. Nearby houses of worship include Green Pines Baptist Church on Hodge Road, the Divine Gospel Mission on South New Hope Road, and Kingdom Christian Worship Center on Old Poole Road.
Shops and restaurants are available at the Edgewater Place Mall, less than two miles north via North Rogers Lane. Eateries include Wang’s Kitchen, the Jamaica Paradise Grill, and the Overtime Sports Pub. A Food Lion grocery and Sheetz store are on site. Two miles west on Route 64 leads to a Wal-Mart Supercenter.
